RABBITS

Gilmoor Vets has an excellent reputation for rabbit care, we are practice members of the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund (RWAF) holding the Silver award in their practice standards scheme, and were named national “Rabbit friendly vet practice of the year 2016”.

Rabbits

All of our vets are happy to see rabbits and several vets have a further interest in the species led by Deborah Stafford MRCVS who holds a further qualification in exotic animal practice GPCertExAP. Rabbit training is considered an essential part of our annual professional development. Our nursing team receive additional training in the care of rabbits, and our receptionists are well briefed in identifying rabbit emergencies.

Our popular rabbit education events are open to all interested owners, including our national rabbit week event.

Our facilities include a dedicated rabbit/small mammal waiting area at our main Durham surgery, and separated hospitalisation facilities. We hold special equipment for a range of rabbit dentistry needs and intubation equipment necessary for rabbit anaesthesia. We also carry all vaccinations available for UK rabbits including RVHD2.

We accept second opinion cases from local veterinary surgeries and provide vet to vet advice on individual cases. We also receive recommendations through the RWAF rabbit friendly vet lists.
